The Art of Movement and Energy

Kinomichi (氣之道) means "The Way of Energy". Created by Master Masamichi Noro, one of the direct students of Morihei Ueshiba (founder of Aikido), Kinomichi is a method that emphasizes the development and free circulation of vital energy (Ki or Qi) through the body and in interaction with partners.

Rather than focusing on the martial aspect of self-defense, Kinomichi explores the richness of contact, the fluidity of spiral movements, and the pursuit of joyful harmony. It aims at the fulfillment of the individual in its entirety: physical, energetic, and spiritual.

Characteristics of Kinomichi:

  • Contact: A benevolent and conscious touch, source of information and connection.
  • Spiral: Natural and fluid movements that promote energy circulation.
  • Ki: Cultivating and directing vital energy for health and harmony.
  • Joy: Practice is oriented towards the pleasure of movement and encounter.
  • Absence of competition: The goal is personal progression and harmony with others.

Kinomichi is practiced with partners, often using the Jo (short staff) and Bokken (wooden sword) to enrich the perception of movement and space.
