Morihei Ueshiba (植芝 盛平)
Founder of Aikido, respectfully known as O Sensei (Great Master).

A Martial and Spiritual Master
Morihei Ueshiba (December 14, 1883 – April 26, 1969) is a legendary figure in Japanese martial arts. After intense practice of various koryu (ancient martial schools) such as Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu under the direction of Takeda Sōkaku, and a profound spiritual quest influenced notably by the Ōmoto-kyō religion, he developed Aikido.
O Sensei transformed martial techniques designed to destroy into an art aimed at unification and harmony. His vision was that true Budo is not about defeating an opponent, but about overcoming conflicts within oneself and promoting universal love and peace. "Aikido is the way of love" (愛の道 - Ai no Michi), he often said.
Legacy and Key Teachings:
- Non-violence: The ability to neutralize an attack without causing unnecessary harm.
- Harmonization (Ai): Blending with the movement and energy of the attacker.
- Vital Energy (Ki): Cultivating and using Ki in a positive and constructive manner.
